About Vasken — Kundalini Yoga Teacher in Switzerland

Journey into Yoga: My Story

My journey into yoga began more than 20 years ago, in my early 30s, while working a high-pressure career in software. Yoga gave me the energy, focus, and creativity that career demanded.

In 2009, a physically traumatic experience took me out of my regular Ashtanga practice entirely. For over three years, chronic lower back pain left me barely able to walk, let alone work — and the frustration and depression that came with it ran deep.

The turning point was realizing that outer change has to start within. That sent me on a path of self-discovery through Kundalini Yoga and Shamanic practice, where I learned to connect with spirit and use breath to calm the mind. What followed was a series of life-changing experiences that made me want to go deeper.

I began formal Kundalini Yoga training and started to understand the real roots of illness and imbalance in mind and body. I’ve been immersed in these teachings ever since.

Teachers and Journeys

I’ve studied for years under renowned teachers and gurus, including Heather Elton, Stewart Gilchrist, Guru Dharam Singh Khalsa, Ram Singh, and Shiv Charan Singh — I remain deeply grateful to all of them. Alongside that, I felt called to sacred places around the world: Buddhist monasteries in the Nepali Himalayas, sacred sites across India, Chiang Mai, and Sri Lanka. My path also took me to South America, where I spent time with shamans in Peru’s Sacred Valley, lived with indigenous communities and wisdom keepers in the Amazon, and stayed at the temples of the Sun and Moon on Lake Titicaca in Bolivia.

Sharing the Knowledge

It felt natural to pass on what my teachers had so generously shared with me. Since 2014, I’ve taught yoga and meditation, run workshops, retreats, and shamanic healing circles. I have been active in the yoga community, and I have been invited to teach as a guest teacher at various yoga festivals (Athens, Greece). In 2016, I moved to Switzerland and began teaching in Gryon, a small village in the Swiss Alps.

Much of what I carry was passed down informally — in classes, in the jungle, at monasteries and festivals. Alongside that, I’ve completed the following formal trainings:
  • Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Level 1 – KRI Certification
  • Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Level 2 – KRI Certification
  • 21 Stages of Meditation – KRI Certification
  • Meditation Counseling Certification
  • Usui Reiki Second Degree (Okuden)
  • Shamanic Healing & 5 Element Theory Certification
